I want to welcome Floyd Chambers, George Daniels and Ray Steward our new members. I am also welcoming Darryl Jones and Bryan Roberts both are former members returning to the Clubhouse. Tom Sweeney updated our binder for the new and returning members. I am told that Dan Evans and Truman Thomas did their usual outstanding job in presenting the “New Member Orientation”. I thank you Tom, Dan and Truman, for your support. This is the time of year that our club organizes it activities and events for the next nine months. Hilton has presented the tournament schedule, which is set except for a few modifications. Please review the approved tournament schedule (which is on our website) and let Hilton know of any conflicts/suggestions.

The committee chairs are busy preparing their proposed budgets for submittal to our treasurer, Mark Cooks, by the end of March. We have some very good policies within the club. I would like to see US put some teeth/enforcement into our current policies. With this objective each committee chair will be reviewing policies and procedures within their areas of responsibilities and making recommendations to the general membership, for our approval/disapproval. I have found that often our processes/practices are in place, but are just not past on to the person assuming the new function. You can see as example of not following our procedures, if you review, what our club By-Laws state about “Participation” and the expectations of us members.

Our golfing schedule will tee off on Saturday, 31 March, let’s see if we can beat our average number of  players (20-25), this year. The Spring Fling is set, for Pinehurst, NC and an exciting golfing adventure should be had by all. Put the National convention on your calendar. I have heard rumors about it being held in Miami, in September.

By the way, the Pro Duffers Golf Club – Southwest Chapter goals are based on your input and are a continuous process. In the coming months, I am asking you to lend your voice and get involved and participate in setting our club’s direction. With your participation, we officers and committee chairs look forward to a happy and productive year.
